P&HCC and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Sign Training MOU

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) have entered into an agreement for P&HCC to become the training provider for the county’s justice-impacted population.

“This is a bifurcated mission to instill hope and serve the community as well. We have seen firsthand that when you give someone a pathway to a good-paying job that changes the trajectory of their lives, reduces recidivism, and improves the circumstances of their family. We believe in that powerfully and we are delighted to partner with Franklin County in this important way,” said P&HCC President Dr. Greg Hodges.

The primary goals of the agreement are to reduce recidivism among justice impacted individuals and to promote economic stability among such individuals through training for industry recognized certifications and credentials. P&HCC instructors will provide instruction on-site at the Franklin County Jail, providing coaching to assist students in successfully completing the training programs and connecting justice-impacted individuals to community support resources and employment opportunities.

“With this partnership, I just believe we’re going to soar,” said Franklin County Sheriff Bill Overton, adding, “We feel a lot of pieces are coming into play to help us be successful on this level that we are embarking upon. I couldn’t think of anything more exciting or any one group to partner with for what Patrick & Henry is doing. I’m so grateful that we are finding ways to help the gentlemen in our facility and cut their recidivism rate.”
