Workforce Financial Assistance

Workforce, Economic and Community Development (WECD) at PHCC is now offering funding assistance to career credit students. Financial aid, grants, and scholarships are available to students enrolling in eligible workforce training programs at PHCC. 

 Indicates a FastForward Program (Formally Workforce Credentials Grant or WCG)
Fastforward is a short-term training that leads to industry credentials based on the needs of local employers. Most programs take between 6 and 12 weeks.

Eligible Workforce Training Programs:

  • CDL Tractor Trailer Training 
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) 
  • Certified Billing and Coding Specialist w/ Microsoft Office 
  • Registered Medication Aide 
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 
  • Community Dental Health Coordinator-
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant 
  • Core-Introductory Craft Skills 
  • Certified Production Technician 
  • Electrical Groundsman 
  • HOPE Customer Service
  • HOPE Food Service
  • HVAC Level 1 - 4 
  • Manufacturing Training
  • Plumbing Level 1 - 4 
  • Phlebotomy Technician 
  • Siemens SMSCP Level 1 (Mechatronics Boot Camp) 
  • Veterinary Assistant

 How do I apply?

  • Complete the Workforce Programs Funding Assistance Application.
  • Review the Policies/Procedures for the FastForward Programs (Formally Workforce Credentials Grant or WCG)
  • Click on "sign in" on the left menu bar to create a new profile (please note that course registration cannot be processed without payment or funding assistance approval).
  • Compile the required documentation, as outlined on the application.
  • Call 276.656.0260 to schedule a personal interview for submission of application and paperwork.
  • Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis to determine qualification and approval.
  • The applicant will be notified of the decision.
  • If approved for funding assistance, the student will be registered in the program by our workforce development staff.
  • Once your registration is processed, you will receive an email confirmation that will include details about the registered program.

The T.A.R.E. program (Training, Assessment, Retention, Employment) provides free educational assistance to prepare students for employment. To be eligible, you must be a TANF/VIEW recipient. This program provides students with basic computer skills, resume/cover letter writing, interviewing skills, job placement, career intelligence skills, as well as short-term training programs.  Short-term training programs include: HOPE Customer Servce, HOPE Food Service, Certified Nurse Aide Training, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Billing and Coding Specialist, Phlebotomy Technician, Veterinary Assistant Program, Construction Trades, Certified Production Technician, Mechatronics Bootcamp, and Commerical Driver's Lisense (CDL).
