Get Tutoring

Tutoring we offer: mathematics, English, and writing.

To schedule an in-person or Zoom meeting with a tutor, email tforbes@patrickhenry.edu 
(Note: you will receive a response to arrange your appointment to your student email address  --i.e. the @email.vccs.edu one.)

The Writing Center also has drop-in hours on Tuesday from 9 am until 2 pm.  (Note: math & biology tutors do not accept walk-ins. You must make an appointment for those).

Become a Tutor

To become a tutor, you can email the tutor coordinator at tforbes@patrickhenry.edu.
Tutors are selected based on the following criteria:

1. Written recommendation from faculty member in every subject area for which student intends to tutor
2. Grade of "A" or "B" in every course for which student intends to tutor
3. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
4. Express genuine concern for all P&HCC students

All tutors participate in a 30-hour training after which they are eligible for certification through the College Reading and Learning Association prior to the fall semester. The training is intense and designed to update tutors with new information and ideas.
