Patrick Henry Community College has named this year’s three legacy scholarship recipients. These scholarships are awarded yearly to students who demonstrate academic excellence and potential for public service and leadership.
Candace Freeman, an honors graduate from Patrick County High School, received the Honorable Gerald L. Baliles Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship. Freeman is now a member of PHCC’s soccer team and is studying to become a child welfare social worker.
Cameron Reckling, an honor graduate of Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, is the second recipient of the Honorable Gerald L. Baliles Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship. Reckling is now a member of the PHCC baseball team. He plans to pursue a degree in either physical therapy or social work.
Alexis Davidson, a honor graduate of Bassett High School, received the Eastman Chemical Commonwealth Legacy Scholar Award. Davidson is studying to become a teacher for either English or Psychology.
These scholarships are provided through donations from or in honor of those for which the scholarship is named.
Scholarship applications for the 2018/2019 Legacy Scholars will open on April 1, 2018 and close on May 31, 2018.
