Congratulations! We are proud of your accomplishments and you should be, too. Earning a degree or certificate takes much determination and dedication.
In order to graduate and receive an associate degree, certificate, or career studies certificate at Patrick Henry Community College, a student must complete all of the following:
Be admitted to an academic program of study
Fulfill all of the course and credit hour requirements of the program set forth in the college catalog
Complete at least 25% of program requirements for an associate degree, diploma, and certificate at PHCC
Demonstrate computer competency skills as defined by the college
Be recommended for graduation by your program of study
Earn a grade point average of at least 2.0 in all courses attempted that are applicable toward graduation in the program of study
File an application for graduation through myPHCC by the established deadline
Resolve all financial obligations to the college and return all library and other college materials
In order to graduate, a graduation application must be submitted. It can be complete by logging into myPHCC and doing the following:

The online graduation application can be accessed during specific time frames for each term. Applications to graduate in the summer term are available May 16 - July 31, for the fall term from August 1 - November 31, and the spring term from December 1 – March 31.
After Application Submission
The registrar evaluates the application to determine if all program requirements are satisfied. A graduation evaluation letter is mailed to the student indicating remaining program requirements in order to receive the credential for which the student has applied. All other notifications in reference to graduation and the commencement ceremony are emailed to the student’s VCCS email address.
Receiving the Degree/Certificate
Approximately a week after final grades are posted for the term, the registrar emails graduation applicants who successfully satisfy all program requirements to notify of degree/certificate pick up dates, times, and locations.
Ordering a Replacement Degree/Certificate
Diplomas are reissued upon the graduate’s request provided there is no outstanding debt to the college. There is a $10 fee for each replacement degree or certificate payable to the Business Office. If you wish to order a replacement degree, please print, complete, and attach your receipt to the Replacement Degree Order Form.
Students may be eligible to graduate with multiple degrees and certificates if the contents of the curricula differ from one another by at least 25%.
Students completing an associate degree or certificate (excluding career studies) are eligible for honors as follows:
Cumulative GPA of 3.2 - cum laude
Cumulative GPA of 3.5 - magna cum laude
Cumulative GPA of 3.8 - summa cum laude
Graduation honors are reflected on the student's academic transcript and diploma.
